UJA Genesis was created as a sub brand of UJA Federation to empower the next generation to shape the future of the Jewish community.
Jewish communities across the globe face a common challenge: safeguarding the Jewish future. Old ways of engaging young community members are no longer inspiring; they need to feel empowered to take ownership of the future of the community.
All the research points to a new philanthropic landscape: this generation wants to feel deeply connected to their charitable organizations; they want to get hands-on, to volunteer. They want to contribute through their own unique talents and offerings; they are entrepreneurial and want to create their own initiatives, make their own mark. Giving money is not enough.
UJA Genesis represents a paradigm shift in UJA’s relationship with its constituents. It is there to empower community members to shape their lives as Jews and their community. UJA is taking a supporting role and serving as a centralizing force and platform from which meaningful engagement springs forth. This engagement is the necessary precursor to charitable giving. Through UJA, community members can get empowered to engage with the community in a variety of ways.
